The Obamas enlighten the UK

This week history has been made, of that there can be no doubt, this week in the shadows of super injections and secrecy came the loudest word yet, that being out there and being a role model can inspire a nation, if you treat people right they will reward you.

US President, Barack, and the First Lady, Michelle, have come and taken our world by storm over the past few days, they have presented themselves with pride, with courtesy and respect for our country and its traditions, they have of course been well looked after, but people like that deserve it, and what about that powerful speech in Westminster Hall, words that will be repeated for life, and lives after that, and so on.

The speech presentation was awesome, how can you not believe a man that has such strong and confident words, a man who clearly is saying what he believes, whilst he gives credit to the east for the recent uprising and that they seem to be moving slowly towards democratic rights, that it is the western way of life that is correct and that we shouldn’t shun others who try to help themselves, but more hold their hands and guide them.

There were other topics, one that made me smile was when he said we created the current economic global crisis, what I was hoping he would add was “thanks to the bankers” but of course that was not forthcoming. There were also stern messages for rogue states that were interesting, and also that when we or the people do liberate countries from dictators; they will need our help and aid.

The audience was entranced, nobody taking their attention away from the great man on the podium, via twitter there were rumours even Ken Clarke managed to stay awake, and what an audience it was, leaders from past and present, Tony Blair, John Major, Gordon Brown, everybody from the two houses of parliament, both MP’s and Lords. They knew this was a great man with a great message in front of them.

The whole trip has so far been a success, and in no small part down to the leaders wives, today’s BBQ in the Downing Street gardens may have been a photo opportunity for the leaders, but the message Samantha Cameron spread was thanks to both our forces, the people who defend what we believe in, the people who keep us safe, and what a noble gesture.

Then we have Michelle Obama and her very emotional trip to Oxford, she has a whole class of girls believing in what she says, a whole class room being inspired by words and the way she has been bought up, the success stories were there for all to see.

So our essential relationship with the US has certainly been cemented, the fact that we are so close brings great stability to the UK, brings greater security and greater trade opportunities, this is a special relationship with special people and we must embrace it to develop our own nation.
